1. Palace of Fine Arts
The classical-looking building and the lagoon it so beautifully sits on were more than enough to make us fall in love with it so much that we decided to put it at number 1. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Palace of Fine Arts is unique in many ways. However, one that we found particularly interesting was that it is the last remaining structure from the 1915 Panama Pacific Exposition.
Today hosting art exhibitions and performances, the Palace has been completely restored and the Theater situated within it can seat close to 1,000 patrons. This is a breathtaking structure that, in our humble opinion, is not only one of the top rated tourist attractions in San Francisco, but should also be a mandatory visit for every newcomer to the city.
