2. The Jokhang, Tibet
Located at Barkhor Square in the capital city of Tibet, the Jokhang is also known as the Qoikang Monastery or Jokhang Temple. Considered to be the most sacred temple in Tibet, Jokhang temple was built by King Songtsen Gampo for his two brides. Constructed in an architectural style which is a mixture of Nepalese, Tibetan and Indian vihara design, the Jokhang has a sizeable collection of Buddhist scriptures and sculptures.
