10 Hidden Tourist Gems In Germany You Didn’t Know About

4. Caputh – Albert Einstein’s House

Caputh is a real cultural highlight; one that boasts the summer house of Albert Einstein. According to him, his most beautiful summers were spent here. Caputh is located right next to one of the most beautiful lakes in Brandenburg – the Schwielowsee. The great German author Theodor Fontane once said the Schwielowsee is a wide, sunny lake and presents itself in a serene and kind way – and he was absolutely right.

The small village of Caputh is an ideal getaway for those who love nature. But for a taste of the city, in just 40 minutes you can also stand next to the gates of Brandenburger Tor in Berlin. The river Havel flows from the nearby city of Potsdam, through the „Caputher Gemünde,” finally reaching its destination in the Schwielowsee.

Great post on Germany. We spent three weeks exploring the divergent sides of Germany last summer. We snapped over 5k in photos! It’s truly beautiful.
