8. See the Mosaics of Madaba
Arguably Jordan’s most traveler-friendly cities, Madaba is 30km towards southwest from the capital city Amman. Most famous for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, Madaba also offers an interesting and inspiring cultural mix with a large number of Christians here. Don’t miss the mosaic map on the floor of St George’s Church and the “Personification of the Sea” mosaic at the Church of the Apostles which depicts a woman emerging from the sea from amidst the aquatic creatures and a group of bulls, rams, parrots and exotic vegetation.
