3. Art Institute of Chicago

The Institute is actually a complex that’s spread across more than 400,000 square feet. The main building of the Institute was designed in the beaux-arts style, and built for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. It’s a world-class museum that contains a diverse set of artifacts from various time periods and all over the world. However, it’s most famous for having a collection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings, including the works of Seurat, Renoir, as well as many by Claude Monet.
