1. The Navy Pier
A visit to this legendary city simply wouldn’t be complete without this pearl. The Navy Pier contains more than 50 acres of gardens, attractions, shops and restaurants. It opened in 1916 as a shipping facility, but has become one of the city’s most popular tourist sites. It contains a 150-ft Ferris wheel and a historic carousel in Navy Pier Park. There are festivals on the Pier year-round and cruise ships take tourists sightseeing. The Pier has many attractions, including the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the Crystal Gardens, a 3D IMAX theater as well as the Chicago Children’s Museum.
