7. Castelluccio (Umbria)

Located on the lap of the Apennine Mountains of central Italy, Castelluccio is a sparsely populated scenic village which is believed to be settled by the Romans. Nestled at an elevation of 1452 meters, this pretty village is also regarded as the highest settlement at the Apennines. Due to its mountainous terrain Skiing and trekking tourism is on rise here. However, Spring is the time when Castelluccio presents an incredibly beautiful and colorful sight with yellow rapeseed and red poppies painting the fields in their exotic hues.
