10 Awesome Castles to Visit in Italy

2. Castle of Sirmione, Lake Garda

In some respects, the Castle of Sirmione is isolated, although not by forests, but by water. In actuality, it stands on the Lake Garda, a reason for which the access to the building is restricted to a drawbridge.

All of the other parts of the castle are surrounded by water, which makes the view even more spectacular. A sample of lacustrine architecture can also be seen in the area, in that the lake is partially enclosed by the walls of the castle.
