Verona
History of this place remains a mystery, however, Shakespeare’s love for Verona is no secret to the world. If you don’t already know, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, The Taming of the Shrew and (hold your breath) Romeo and Juliet were set in this beautiful Italian city. One of the most loved and grand opera venues in the world, Verona has been acknowledged by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Like the rest of Italy, there’s no dearth of historical monuments in Verona including Roman edifices and medieval architectural wonders. Visit Verona for no other reason but to breathe in the same air as the most iconic star-crossed fictional lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet.
