4. Golestan Palace
A pearl of Iran’s capital city is the Golestan Palace, known also as the Palace of Flowers. This is one of the oldest historic monuments in Teheran and has world heritage status. The complex consists of 17 structures, including gardens, royal buildings, and collections of Iranian crafts and European presents from the 18th-19th century. The structure became the seat of the Qajar dynasty, that chose Teheran as Iran’s capital. The Palace comprises also an early photographic archive, and you can find mentioned there that “photography was so common at the royal palace in the 19th century that the king’s wives and his servants also took pictures and posed playfully in front of the camera”.
