What to Do in Riga in 3 Days

Day 3 in Riga
Go on a Daugava river sightseeing cruise!

The river Daugava has been a trade route since antiquity, being part of the Vikings’ Dvina-Dnieper navigation route to Byzantium. Being such an important part of Latvia, it is a pity not to go on a 1-day cruise on Daugava. During your cruise along Daugava river you will see Riga panorama views with historical buildings and bridges like: Shroud bridge, Railway bridge, Stone bridge and South bridge.

You will have the opportunity to observe closer the TV tower – the highest metal structure from all Baltic countries, the third highest tower in Europe. So, its height exceeds 380 meters. The tower is situated on Zakusala island, in the middle of Daugava, being built in a special way to resist to extreme wind.

Also, the Riga Castle can be observed during your cruise. The Castle houses the Latvian President’s official residence and several museums, but, unfortunately, it was seriously damaged by fire in 2013.

Another place that will attract your attention is the marvelous Riga city Yacht club, full of luxurious yachts. While navigating, you can gaze at the Andrejsala island. The south of this island was part of the Riga Port in the past, but the area was separated from the rest of the city. You can get now on Andrejsala just on foot or by bicycle. In the future, the authorities plan to build here the largest residential district.
