Gorodetsky House stands on an abrupt slope of the Pechersky hill. Many people thought the building of the House on a cliff a madness at that time, and that served as a source of different legends. One of them tells that Gorodetsky started the construction as a result of a bet with other architects, who were telling that it is impossible to build something on such a surface. Another legend tells that the facade was ornamented with bizarre sculptures – sea monsters and exotic animals, in honor of his daughter who drowned in the sea.
