Day 3 in Budapest
Try to book tickets in advance for a trip through the Hungarian Parliament – one of the Europe’s oldest legislative buildings and a notable landmark in Hungary. As well, this is the largest and the tallest construction in the Hungarian capital. This splendid building, in neo-Gothic style, with sumptuous interior, can be admired during a group visit, with a guide. Such trips are organized for free for the citizens of the European Union. In the central hall, you will have the opportunity to analyze the Holy Crown of Hungary.
Budapest is dimmed with museums on a grand variety of themes, starting with that related to history, ending with that related to music, natural sciences, and religion. Choose one or two that you are mostly interested in and visit it/them, whether it is the Museum of Bible, the Museum of Music, the Museum of Arts, the Jewish Museum, etc.
At noon, pack some sandwiches for a picnic and go to the Margaret Island, situated in the middle of the Danube, in Budapest. The island is entirely covered by lush greenery and is a popular recreational area among the Hungarians. Again, the place does not lack some historical monuments, such as the ruins of a Franciscan church, of a Dominican church, and of a convent from the 13th century, but also that of a church from the 12th century, the Centennial Memorial, and a Water Tower. The Hungarians pay much attention to healthy way of life, practicing actively sport. Thus, you can find on the Margaret Island a sports pool, a water park, a tennis stadium, an athletics center, and a rubber-coated running track.
