Fort George
Named after Great Britain’s King George II, Fort George or Halifax Citadel is a fortification atop Citadel Hill. Overlooking the harbor and downtown, Fort George is known for its distinctive share as a star which is a typical fortification style for of many 19th century British military citadels.
Fort George has deep ditches, stout walls and the ramparts are lined with large cannons. A brilliant defense mechanism from the past, Fort George is a National Historic Site of Canada in Halifax and a must visit tourist attraction too.
