2. The lake of human skeletons in Uttarakhand, India
Discovery of the human skeletons in a beautiful glacial lake located high in the Himalayas was by accident when a Nanda Devi game reserve ranger noticed them in the Roopkund lake, one of the popular trekking destinations in Uttarakhand, India. The skeletons along with several other objects such as iron spearheads, rings, wooden artifacts, and leather slippers are visible only for a month when the ice melts. From scientific to spiritual, many theories and stories claim to solve the mystery of these skeletons (around 200 in number). However, the most reliable theory says that the bodies are those of an Indian tribe which perished on the mountain due to a hailstorm. Whatever the truth is, this glacial lake is extremely eerie.
