2. Puglia, Italy
Sometimes referred to as the Heel of Italy’, Apulia (Puglia in Italian) is a boot-shaped region in southeastern Italy which is not just laid-back and quieter than other parts of the country but is also considered a food paradise. Although it has some excellent beaches dotted by rustic clubs, Puglia is still to be discovered by the majority of holiday-makers resulting into the crowd-free vacation for those who want to relax away from the hustle-bustle of the tourist destinations.
Puglia also enjoys a pleasant weather throughout the year but summers are dry and warm making it an ideal time to explore the backstreets of the old town. Why July in specific? Because the much talked about the music festival in Melpignano near Lecce takes place in the month of July where many noted musicians play and you also get to experience the famous folk dance of the region called “Pizzica”.
