7. Castle Fraser
Arguably, this is one of the most romantic and grandest-looking castles in all of Scotland. As a matter of fact, the baronial five-story tower house in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire appeared as a backdrop in the movie The Queen (2006), starring Helen Mirren. The panoramic views of the garden and estate entice numerous visitors, and legend has it that a princess was murdered in the Green Room, as well as that she still walks the castle at night. Visitors have also reported hearing unexplained ghostly piano music.
