America’s 10 Best National Parks You Should Visit

3. Mojave National Preserve, California

As its name implies, the Mojave National Preserve can be found in San Bernardino County’s Mojave Desert. The U.S. Congress established this preserve in 1994 with the passage of the California Desert Protection Act. Previously, it was governed by the Bureau of Land Management and called the East Mojave National Scenic Area. Interestingly, the Mojave National Preserve is the third largest unit of the National Park System in the contiguous United States; it covers a surface of 1,600,000 acres.

Volcanic formations the likes of Cinder Cone Lava Beds and Hole-in-the-Wall are reason enough to consider this one of the most amazing national parks in America. Yet, other natural features include the Cima Dome, Marl Mountains and the Kelso Dunes, none of which can be adequately described with words. You have to see them to believe them.
