9. Namib Desert
The Namib is found on the coast of southern Africa. The desert consists of sand seas near the coast, while further inland you could discover gravel planes and scattered mountain outcrops. The Namib is often wrapped in thick fog, due to the collision of cold and warm air masses. This desert is almost entirely uninhabited by people, except several small settlements and indigenous pastoral groups.
However, if you are a nature lover, especially of animals, this is a place which you have to explore! At the shore, you will find a multitude of fish species, shorebirds and brown fur seals, while larger animals inhabit the northern regions. As well, do not miss the Sossusvlei area, where high orange dunes surround white salt pans, forming a captivating landscape.
