5. Hadrian’s Wall
Stretching for 73 miles (117 kilometers) across England’s northern region from the North Sea to the Irish Sea, this legendary symbol of the Island definitely qualifies as one of the best Great Britain attractions. The Romans built it to protect their colony Britannia from Scottish tribes; construction started as early as 122 AD, and the wall was largely completed in some six years, following a visit by Roman Emperor Hadrian. Today, however, only partial stretches of this once all-important structure still stand as reminders of bygone times.
