7. Gurudongmar Lake, India
Gurudongmar Lake is definitely one of the most magnificent lakes in Asia and one of the highest ones in the world. This freshwater lake is located northeast of the Kangchenjunga range in Sikkim. Sikkim is considered to have the most beautiful natural lakes in the world; some of them are considered sacred by the locals and are, therefore, places of worship as well as tourism. There are a series of beautiful lakes in Sikkim; the Gurudongmar just so happens to be considered by many as the most beautiful among them. Other notable lakes in the area include Tsomgo Lake, also known as “The Frozen Lake of India,” and Khecheopalri Lake, also known as “The Wishing Lake.”
