3. Haydarpasa Terminal, Turkey
Built in 1909 Haydarpasa Terminal is as famous structure in Istanbul, Turkey as any other historic monument. In 2013, the train services to the station were suspended for an indefinite period citing the rehabilitation work of the line as the reason. Prior to that, Haydarpasa terminal along with Sirkeci Terminal was the city’s busiest intercity and commuter railway terminal. Although the railway station was first opened in 1872, the current iconic building in neo-classical style was inaugurated in 1909. Brilliantly crafted façade and its stunning castle-like design brings Haydarpasa Terminal into the list of the most spectacular railway stations around the world.
