4. Kilkenny Castle
When it comes to amazing castles in Ireland, no list would be complete without Kilkenny Castle. It was built in 1195 by the First Earl of Pembroke to consolidate Norman influence in Ireland. It is currently in the possession of the Irish government, and was restored in the late 20th century. It also holds the prestigious Butler Gallery. The gallery itself has an amazing collection, which showcases some the works of some of the best Irish artists, such as Louis le Brocquy and Jack Butler Yates.
