9. Ross Castle
Occupying the 9th place in this guide of the country’s castles is Ross Castle. It was built on the shores of Lough Leane, and is within the Killarney National Park. It’s of particular interests to history buffs, as it was one of the last strongholds to withstand the conquest of Oliver Cromwell in the 17th century. There are guided tours available, and the site is fully open to the public.
