A massive sandcastle rising from the golden sandy plains creating an overwhelming impression of a mirage, tapered winding alleys of an old city with the captivating Thar Desert as backdrop and oodles of mindboggling history make Jaisalmer one of the top 10 life-changing destinations in India. A World Heritage Site with finely sculptured houses and temples, Jaisalmer was founded in 1156 AD by a Rajput King and is also known as the ‘Golden City’ due to the common use of yellow sandstone and sand in architecture.
