2. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Drawing its design influences from Persian, Moorish and Mughal architecture, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is astonishingly grand and beautiful. The main prayer hall has 96 Mother of Pearl adorned marble columns and the custom-made carpet in the hall is considered to be the world’s largest, weighing 35 tons. There are seven Swarovski bejeweled chandeliers and the largest among these seven is the third largest chandelier in the world. That’s not the end of the story. There are pools along the arcades of the mosque which present a stunning reflection of the mosque’s majestic columns at night. The specially designed lighting system reflects the moon in different phases on the external walls of the mosque. As beautiful as it can get, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is undoubtedly a must-visit holy sight in the world.
