6. The Ancient City of Sukhothai
The ancient city of Sukhothai is located a short distance away from the modern Sukhothai city, and it is a popular destination for history and photography enthusiasts. The city was the first capital of the Kingdom of Thailand in the 13th and 14th centuries, which was then referred to as the Sukhothai Kingdom.
Despite being under several battles over the centuries, as well as being exposed to various elements, the ruins of the ancient city still stand strong as a testament to the glory of the ancient kingdom. The ruins, which cover approximately 17 square miles, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and several restorations have since been done on them, turning the city into a historic site.
