9. The Sacred Valley
This is one you might have heard of folks, as it’s very close to the ancient cities of Machu Picchu and Cusco. The Sacred Valley of the Incas is in the Andes and once represented the heartland of the vast Inca Empire. Unique climatic and geographical features meant this valley was held in the highest esteem by the ancient Incas, in addition to containing several prominent archeological remains.
Some of these are actually ancient towns and villages, including Ollantaytambo and Pisac, resulting in this valley being among the best places in Peru for curious travelers.
