10. Napa Valley
Easily one of the best places to visit in California, the Napa Valley is today as well-known a word among winemakers as Switzerland is among cheese manufacturers. In an odd turn of events, it was the wine-tasting event commonly called the Judgment of Paris that thrust California wines onto the world wine stage in 1976. Depicted in the movie Bottle Shock, this event enabled Napa to consequentially become the tourist attraction it is today. However, the history of wine in this fertile valley goes way back to the mid-1800’s.
