4. Lake Powell
Found on the border between Colorado and Utah, Lake Powell is actually a man-made reservoir constructed on the Colorado River. Today one of the best places to visit in Arizona, it was actually created back in 1972, when construction of the Glen Canyon Dam caused flooding of the Glen Canyon. Nowadays, the lake and surrounding area are a very popular summer tourist destination known as the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. And in case you happen to be wondering about the name, the reservoir was christened after John Wesley Powell, who explored the river in wooden boats back in 1869.
