4. Chateau de Chenonceau
The decoration and design of the Chateau de Chenonceau are breathtaking. It’s a treat to visit this site even more so because it was saved from destruction several times during the Dark Ages, and one of the public interventions in this sense belonged to Diane de Poitiers, who was a mistress of Henry II.
Due to the fact that the castle is situated on the River Cher, it acted as an economical bridge in the area, which made it even more significant at the time. Its rich collections can be visited thanks to guided tours.
