8. Chateau de Vitre
While it might seem less enchanting compared to the formerly mentioned Chateau de Saumur, the castle in Vitre has an undeniable charm. For one, it’s situated in an easily accessible location as it rests in Brittany. Therefore, if you will be visiting both England and France, it wouldn’t be a pain to cross the channel and get a chance to see this location, as well.
Despite the fact that it has been affected by fires and other mishaps over time, the site was expanded in the 15th century, and later on restored by the town which bought it in 1820. The castle is the home of the city hall and a small museum.
