2. The Northern Lights
First of all, the Northern Lights are a legendary, yet somewhat confusing term, because it might come off as unclear where they’re best observed from. And allow us to solve the confusion: the Fairbanks area is where some of the best viewing takes place, and we’ll even do you one better. If you really want to hit the sweet spot, be there between September and mid-April. Appearing on many nights in this period, the glowing Northern Lights are one of the few up-sides to Alaska’s dark, long winters. And this being one of the absolute best places to visit in Alaska, you’ll want to watch out for solar particles in the earth’s magnetic field right after midnight.
