Rome is the capital of Italy. Located on the banks of the Tiber River, the city has a long history of centuries the capital of the Roman Republic, Roman Empire, the Roman Catholic Church and modern Italy.

Rome is an important tourist center. Among the most famous monuments are “Colosseum” and “Trajan’s Column”. An enclave of Rome is the State “Vatican”, a sovereign territory of the Holy See situated in a Roman neighborhood.

Clime: Rome enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters (average 12 degrees in January). The most pleasant time of year where you could visit the city is in October.
Snowfall is rare, but spend sometime in December, January and February. In general, summer lasts half a year, from May to October. August is the month in which the hot probably should avoid the city.

Cuisine

Italian cuisine is one of the most popular in the world. There are so many Italian recipes that it is possible to find many variations of the same dish.

For example, lasagna made in northern Italy is very different from the one made in the south. Italian cuisine is famous for pasta, pizza, seafood, poultry and vegetable dishes. Desserts are also famous.

Italian cuisine combines the benefits of healthy Mediterranean diet with a wide range of seasonal ingredients and regional flavors. It is based on fresh ingredients cooked in front of you live and a combination of vegetables, grains, fruits and tasty seafood, fish, and olive oil.

The Italians were the first in Europe that have used fork (Venetians) and the first must consider the relationship between food and foods served (Florentine). And finally, the Italians brought sweets, canned fruit pastes in the Western world.

Traditional Italian menu structure is respected everywhere in Italy and consists of:
̶ Antipasti (usually a selection of hot and cold appetizers);
̶ The first way, which is typically the main source of carbohydrates of the table. Usually it is a plate of pasta prepared with a sauce, but can also could be a risotto, gnocchi, polenta or soup, depending on the region or type of restaurant;
̶ The second type, main dish, containing pasta, seafood or meat. If you want you can eat a cantorno (a salad, vegetables or potatoes) which can be served together or after the second dish for meat or fish as the first dish is usually served without vegetables and potatoes;
̶ Desert;
̶ Coffee;
̶ Digestive (liquor). Almost every region has its own liquor (limoncello, grappa, amaro) which is served after the meal and, as its name indicates, is designed to facilitate digestion.

Italian cuisine is also well known for using a variety of pasta. include noodles in various lengths pasta, widths and shapes. Ases after form, are called: penne, maccheroni, spaghetti, linguine, fusilli, lasagna and more varieties are filled with other ingredients like ravioli and tortellini.

Restaurants

√ One of the most famous restaurants in Rome, Hostaria Antica Roma.
The restaurant is on the via Appia Antica catacombs and is built in one of the former temple of Rome, the restaurant is cozy, ideal for romantics. Here you will find traditional dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and a fabulous wine list.
√ Nearby Termini Station is one of the best pizza in Rome: Babbo”s. The menu is very rich, the wine list is impressive and the prices are affordable for all tourists.
√ For more sophisticated dishes you can try Crispi 19. Restaurant menu focuses on fish dishes and seafood, but there are pastas, steaks, salads and various vegetarian delicacies. The prices are great and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Getting around

√ Vatican, is a small sovereign state whose territory consists of an enclave within the city of Rome, Italy.
The whole country is about half a square kilometer. The state is led by the Bishop of Rome, the Pope.
Vatican was inscribed in 1984 on UNESCO World Heritage list.
√ Roman Forum or the Roman Forum was a forum of Rome, around the center of the old town, located between the Palatine Hill and Hill Chapter and where they place trade activities, business, religion and the administration of justice.
√ Traian’s Column is a monument of ancient Roman emperor Trajan built to commemorate his victory in Dacia, which has been preserved until today.
The monument is located in Traian’s Forum, close – to the north – the Roman Forum. Completed in 113, the column is provided with an exterior famous bas-relief carved spiral, which reproduces a form artistic epic wars between the Romans and the Gauls worn by Traian conquered Dacia.
Column has a height of about 30 meters and comprises 18 massive blocks of Carrara marble, each weighing 40 tons.
√ Fontana di Trevi is the most famous and probably the most beautiful fountain in Rome.
Water from the bottom of the well, is great. Legend says that anyone who throws a coin into the water will return to Rome. This money should be thrown back over his shoulder at the well.
√ The Colosseum in Rome is a tourist monument visited by many tourists from all over the world.
He is probably the most impressive ruins of the Roman Empire-building. Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheater, the Colosseum was the largest building of its time and today is the largest ancient amphitheater that can be visited.
